The 80/20 Approach Explained

In a given week, what percentage of the food you eat is healthy?

What percentage of healthy foods do you think is the goal to eat in a given week?

We would never encourage to aim for 100%, even if you’re an olympic athlete. It’s about applying moderation. We believe that a reasonable goal is 80% to have you feeling like your best self. You can focus your efforts to eat meals that contain high fibres, quality proteins, healthy fats, and lots of veggies for that 80%. The remaining 20% is up to you!

BUT, we still encourage to aim for quality food choices overall. Use that 20% to make some homemade treats for yourself. It’ll be less processed and you can limit the amount of artificial additives while still enjoying your favourite foods.

Let’s do some quick nutrition math. Let’s say you eat 3 times per day. That’s 21 meals in a week.
80% of 21 = 17.
20% of 21 = 4.

So, the goal would be to eat nutrient dense foods for 17 meals in a week. That leaves you with 4 remaining meals to indulge in the foods you love ❤️.

It means you can have that slice of birthday cake and enjoy it. So long as you get back on track for your next meal.

Remember, it’s not about dieting, it’s about creating a healthy life 🙌 . This approach may not work for everyone - and that’s okay! Everybody and every body is unique to each individual.
